I’ve been sober, for 2 years now and it’s been quite the ride. When I was in active addiction, I didn’t live the best lifestyle. My sleep was terrible, I found it hard to work out and my anxiety was super high.
Once I entered recovery, I started the long process of improving my life, and I continue to do that to this day. One thing that’s helped me improve my life and build better habits, is tracking my activities via an app. There are so many reasons tracking our habits is helpful.
The Atomic Habits author, James Clear shares his top three, “1. It creates a visual cue that can remind you to act.” 2. It is motivating to see the progress you are making. You don’t want to break your streak. 3. It feels satisfying to record your streak in the moment.
I resonate with all three of these, #2 in particular. I absolutely love using an app to see how many sober days I have, or how many days I’ve exercised. It’s immediately rewarding. This January I started using the app OberIt to track a few different things in my life and it's been a game changer.
Oberit is a wellness recovery app. This app gives you reward coins for making healthy choices every day. For example, every morning I set a daily intention, document what I’m grateful for, choose a positive affirmation to focus on, and set my priorities for the day. Once, I’ve done all of that I earn coins that I can use towards purchases in their marketplace on the app.
I recently put my coins towards the Breathwrk app and I love it! The Breathwrk app guides you through breathing exercises. I use mine before bed and after I work out to relax.
Oberit is super easy to use, and I always feel a sense of accomplishment after I log my tasks for the day. To download the app today, click here.
